Poor Micheal Richie. I can just picture him salivating every time he gets an email from perky Sarah Kelso, thinking he’s one step closer to untold wealth.

And then you drop THE HAMMER on him and just bust his bubble.

You “conned” the con man. You scare me.

Masterfully done! And a great service to others. While it’s hard to comprehend how people can fall for things like this, the simple fact is they do it every day. These scammers aren’t stupid (well…. ok, they aren’t *complete* idiots) they wouldn’t go through all these motions if there weren’t victims to take advantage of.

This is true public service. So great that you kept this going, and published the email chain. Not only is it compelling reading (better than the book I have going at home), but a great lesson for would-be renters or *gasp* buyers.

Thanks Kim! All in all it wasn’t that bad. I was fortunate that the 2 consumers contacted me before it got really involved. I would hate to think that a consumer lost money becuase of all of this. I hope people do read this and become more aware of how easy it is for someone to steal your listings, steal your property, and make money scamming unsuspecting people.

Sarah – Thank you for putting this string of conversations out there – for the purpose of educating all of us to what great lengths people will go to make the “scam” happen – he was just not letting go ! …. and also to really make renters/buyers of properties to get a professional involved – and be careful !
